 The Vineyard Genetic Code:
Peterborough Vineyard Church is one of the many churches in the UK that belongs to Vineyard Churches (UK) (www.vineyardchurchesuk.com) which is overseen by John and Eleanor Mumford, pastors of South West London Vineyard (www.swlv.org.uk) and our representatives internationally in the worldwide Vineyard Movement.
What holds us together as a family of churches is often referred to as the Vineyard Genetic Code, a ten point list of characteristics that can be found in every Vineyard Church:
- The Bible is taught as the standard for living
- Intimate worship is experienced and carried into daily life
- Care for the poor is prominent
- Evangelism is central to the purpose and practice of church life
- Signs and Wonders are expected to be normative
- Relationship is valued and fostered through Small Groups
- People are trained and equipped for ministry
- There is a love for and participation with other churches in the Body of Christ
- Spiritual Gifts are seen as the everyday tools for ministry
- There is participation in and support for World Mission through church planting
